Technical Wiper problems on a 500L

Hi i am new to this site so please be kind to me.
The Wife picked up a second hand 500L last Friday and as it was raining she used the wipers only to find they over lapped each other .
The blades look the right size according to the net and they park in the same place as other cars do we looked at .
So can any one tell me what is going on please
