Hi all,

Those of you with a 1.4 500L can you let me know your mpg figures and your type of driving route?

Cheers!

M

Thanks MJG,

48mpg on a long cruise is not bad actually especially four up too.

I also noticed you said it feels quite torquey, especially compared to the 500 1.2 which is the car I have come from as well. :)

Do you find the car is refined and a lot more eco in 6th as you would expect? Is it more like an overdrive 6th?

Thanks,

Matt

At the time I did that run it was pretty new too, only a couple of weeks old in fact.

I'm not sure about 6th gear TBH, it clearly must help the MPG to a degree but I personally don't detect a significant drop in revs (either on the rev counter or in engine noise) when changing up.

It is more refined in the higher gears though as when being taken up through the gears there is quite a 'harsh' note in the engine noise, this seems to tailor off in the 5th/6th

5 months on into ownership it's probably one of the things I like least about the car.

Interesting. I did run a Fiesta ST and a Civic Type R a few years back and they sounded harsh going up through the gears until cruising to be fair.

I found the 1.2 500 was a little harsh sounded in 1st and 2nd when pulling away but 3/4/5 sounded better.

I noticed in the manual of the L it says to start the car you must have the car in neutral (obviously) and have the clutch depressed? Is this so?

I must admit I have never noticed that so no have never done it and it always starts OK.
