I wanted to share some good news about the safety of the 500L. In the USA the insurance companies have gathered together to test automobiles in a group called IIHS. This is beyond the mandatory governmental tests. The cars are testes using higher speeds and more stringent testing protocols. The 500L was just given the Top Safety Pick for 2014.
They rate the vehicles using three terms Good, Acceptable and Poor. To get a Good in even one category is very hard to do. The 500L was given the rating Good in all categories. To get the Top Safety Pick a vehicle must receive good ratings in at least 4 of 5 tests and no less than acceptable in the fifth test.
