General Reviewed the dealership

Update:

I understand that the national reps are going to meet on this tomorrow and I am hopeful that spares or at least reasonable cost wheels and tires will be made available.

The cost of a rim that is currently on the car was incorrectly indicated to me at $1350 and is in fact less than $400... Add tire and we have something that can be tossed in the boot for long trips..

We shall see how this turns out tomorrow.

The Service manager and an individual who I am going to assume is the Parts manager have been very active in trying to find a solution. No matter how this ends, those two went way above and beyond to help a customer. So if those nice nat reps are reading, please note, these guys are attempting to keep your reputation as it should be... On top!

So we wait....

Is there space for a spare? I've not looked at a 500L, or the European version anyway but so many now come with the small kit to get you to a garage instead of a spare to reduce weight. It sounds like this guy has mislead you.

There is space for a spare if you don't have the upgraded sound system which must encroach in the area reserved normally for the wheel.

Our 500L has a spare all be it a space saver type.

The OP mentioned in another thread that he was just going to carry it in the boot and use it for longer trips however as IIRC his L has the upgraded sound system.

I have measured and the wheels that are on the car, one of those will lay flat in the back.
I do have the beats sound system, but it won't be a problem.
And yes, this is only for long trips.

I've had nails in the tires of my mini cooper and I just used the Slime air pump to fill it back up and there's a tire place directly on my way home that fixed them.

BUT for long trips in the Fiat... Imagine the trouble I'm having now and the dealership is only 10 minutes away.... If I ran into this on a trip, and they can't find a rim, if I happened to run over something that trashed the rim?

Last I heard, inventory for the rims that come with these cars is -1 in the US... meaning as of right now, they have none.
Which is why the service manager said I caused quite a rukus?
Cause today, Nat Reps are flying into that dealership to discuss how they can resolve this. I'm not the only one who's raised the flag, I'm just the loudest ;)

In case you didn't catch it in another thread, Tire Rack now has full size 17" (and 16" if you need that one) rims with the correct bolt pattern for our Trekkings. But call them instead of on line ordering as they have to get you the correct one. They just got them in.

Fiat still doesn't have any extra full size rims in their inventory, last I heard. So you have to go after market.
