Hi folks . I am just asking a quick question re.the city steering button . A while back I fell & landed awkwardly whilst playing football with our bouncy Labrador & I fractured my collarbone & my wrist .
My current car is a Mini Cooper SD which is great , however the steering in this car is VERY heavy so at the moment it is too painful for me to drive it . I am driving my OH 500C with the city button active .
I am just curious as to how many members actually use the city button & also why other manufacturers do not offer this function on their small cars ?
It has been absolutely invaluable for me as I would not be able to drive myself to work etc otherwise .

When I was recovering from a heart op, the City button was very useful. Other than that I've hardly used it.

Many cars with electric steering are speed sensitive, automatically giving more assistance at lower speeds. Easy to do with electric, more complicated with hydraulic.

Use of City mode steering is entirely down to personal preference, but as has been said, should you be unfortunate and sustain an injury, it just might prove invaluable.

Personally I prefer a firmer feel and normally drive with it switched off. Once, when I pulled a shoulder muscle, I suffered needlessly for a couple of days, simply because I forgot the City button was there :bang:.

If the system ever cuts out and you lose all power assistance, the weight of the steering at low speed might just surprise you.
