Hi all, just about to give the partners 500 a service myself but can’t seem to find an answer as to whether or not it needs 0W-40 or 5W-40? Have seen both recommended but no reason to why. Also would you all recommend trying to get the Petronas Selenia or is something like Castrol Edge decent enough?

Thanks!

I can strongly recommend the Fuchs brand too, been using it for a number of years and all but one of the "family fleet" are running on it now - that one is still under extended warranty (it's a Kia, so getting whatever the dealer puts in it).

Here's two which are waiting for me to overcome my lazyness and do oil changes on our Panda and Ibiza.

The 5W-40 goes in the Panda (2010 1.2 60hp) and the 5W-30 is for the Ibiza. The Ibiza has one of those small 3 cylinder turbo petrol engines in it so, thinking especially about the turbo, I'm very particular about what oil I would use in it:

Looking on the back of the containers - 5W-40 being the first one - at the specs it's always interested me that Fuchs include their own recommendations along with the actual product approvals. The distinction being that approvals, I believe, are product authentication obtained through testing and approval by the vehicle manufacturer for which they (Fuchs, or any other oil brand) are charged a hefty fee whereas recommendations are Fuchs saying the product meets the requirements but they haven't paid anyone for the privilege.

PS. I particularly like that they also stencil the production date on the bottom of the containers - If you magnify the first image you will be able to read, underneath the label, dot stenciled onto the plastic of the container itself, that both these were manufactured/bottled? 10th march 2021 - which reassures me I'm not being sold old stock. Every Fuchs container seems to be marked this way, certainly every one I've been supplied with was.

I think every 5W-40 oil with API/SN is fine for this good, old natural aspirated fire engine, even if the amount of oil is not so big. I was really wonderung why the amount compared the Punto55 with the 1,1l engine was around 1l less, even if the oil pans are looking quite similar. So perhaps only another dip-stick, because less oil heats faster up, and that´s good for the CO2 emissions in the certification cycle, due to reduced friction....just a thought...
