Roof stops about 1cm from fully closed causing a wind noise. Many many years ago I did an adjustment using possibly two Allen key bolts in the boot but can’t remember. Anybody got any pictures or can jog my memory?
Thanks

IMG_5400.JPGprobably just needs a relearn.

:yeahthat:In my eight years of 500C ownership and seven years of forum membership I've never seen a reference to any means of adjusting the roof opening and closure other than the initialization procedure as depicted above.

PS; Nice to see my 2014 page scan is still circulating(y).

It wasn’t a general service adjustment but a roof adjustment on a new car. I worked on Fiat’s About 10 years ago and I just can’t remember what I did.

Ah, I see. I follow every discussion on the cabrio roof and I've never seen any such reference on the forum I'm afraid.

Does it do the same with the wind deflecter locked down? I don't know why but my roof emits a loud 'clack' when the deflector deploys but nothing when it's locked down. It's always done it. My wife's car made no such noise either way. Could something there be preventing yours from shutting properly?

Just to clarify; the noise is not from the deflector itself when it springs up - if you manually hold it down and release it the noise doesn't occur. I haven't been able to establish just what causes it but it's done it since new and it doesn't appear to affect operation.

I just wonder if something there might be causing your woes.

If I manually close the roof with the 17mm motor over ride after it’s fully closed electrically it moves a couple of mm further and there’s no wind noise. The HRW then no longer works as I’m guessing it’s out of sync but the car won’t do the relearn around this new position.

Just to clarify I’m doing the relearn correctly, the instructions say to keep the button pressed until completely open and then completely closed. You can’t open and close with one button press and you need to release and re press when going both ways?

You must press the 'Open' button and hold it until the roof's completely down, i.e. folded over the boot, continuing to hold it for at least two seconds more before releasing it. Then press and hold the 'Close' button until the roof's completely closed and. once again. continue to hold the button down for at least two seconds more before releasing. It should then automatically cycle fully open and return to about 250mm short of closed.

There are no sensors to tell the controller where the roof is; it has to ‘learn’ the limits of travel.:)

When I try to do this the roof stops at its pre determined point in the open position and won't move any further until I release the button and press again to get it fully open. When closing it stops once the rear screen is in position and again about 25cm from closed. I'm guessing It should stop In the predetermined place then carry on which it isnt so not going into relearn mode.
I do appreciate the help :)

When I did the reset on my roof it fully opened (and closed) without any stops or even pauses - just all the way back and all the way forward. I can't guess why yours doesn't do likewise.

A reset is necessary after the battery has been disconnected (and after the roof jams on a foreign object as I too well know!) so all I can suggest is to disconnect your battery for a while, say half an hour, then reconnect it - this should wipe the control module's memory.

After connecting the battery the roof should only move while a button is depressed and stop as soon as it's released, wherever it might be at the time. Also, by the way, the boot should not be able to be opened.

All I can suggest is to then try the initialization again.

It's occurred to me that I haven't tried to do a reset on a roof that's already initialized and I don't know if it'd go into reset mode or not.

Hope this helps.:)

I had a C with a roof that would only go back as far as the rear window. It wouldn’t fold to the final position. It was suggested that something in the channel was stopping it. I found some “things” which I don’t really know what to call them and I forget what they look like but from memory they say in the channel and “tucked” into the roof canvas. A couple of them were broken.

I never got to the bottom of it so ended up selling it with the fault but it’s worth a look.

Today’s job was to close the roof then manually wind it fully closed, then disconnect the battery and try a relearn. I hit the open button and then close and it locked fully forward in the correct position. Only thing I can think of is over the last few days the fabric has softened slightly?
Thanks for the help everybody
