Hi All,

I've had a strange problem with the radio in my second hand 2012 Fiat 500 Pop.

A few weeks ago, the radio screen started to break up when I was driving and then the radio suddenly stopped working. There was a pop in the speakers and the radio went completely dead. No lights on any of the radio buttons, nothing on the display.

I check the fuse in the interior fuse box and at the back of the radio and both of them were still fine. No problem with the wire cluster as far as I could see. All other electrics worked with no problem, the only other unusual problem was the orange lights behind the window, demister, start/stop, city mode, hazard warning lights and fog lights buttons were on all the time as though my headlights were on.

I powered up the car yesterday and all of a sudden the radio was back on asking for a code which I know is the result of disconnecting the radio to check the fuse.

Would someone be able to advise if this is a sign of a bigger electrical issue or just a minor problem before I take it to a garage

Check the rear hatch wiring would be my first point. The radio doesn't normally ask for the code even with the battery off, got to go out, someone will be along soon with more info

I’ve had them where the front of the stereo is knackered. I’ve changed the front and it’s fine. If you take the radio out you will see that after removing a couple of screws it just pulls off.

Might be easier just replacing the whole thing though for about £60.

Has the panel lighting settled down? Does everything on the rear hatch work correctly?

I've not had chance to look at the rear wire hatching yet, but there's a new development on the radio. I've put my code back in and now the display screen for the radio goes off when I put the headlights on, but the radio still plays

I'll look at the hatching and see what's going on
