Very odd problem. All fine, then boot won’t open.
Central locking works fine, lights flash doors open & close.
Roof works fine, opens & closes, will not go into reset mode, which I believe means it does not need doing .
I have charged the battery / disconnected recently...I think it got disconnected, the red terminal connection was loose ...so all resolved now.
Just the boot is locked solid.
About to start stripping down internally, is there anything obvious I have missed please ...tips or tricks, wd40 and where to spray !

If you've had the battery disconnected it'll be worth performing the roof initialization procedure below. Non-opening boot is a symptom that the control module's memory has been wiped.


It only takes a minute or two.

The mystery thickens. Roof still won’t go into reset. Stripped the boot down, the connector into the boot latch has 12v going to it...it has 4 female pins...which connect into the electronic latch solenoid...not all of the 4 pins has 12v to them...are they meant to all have 12V to each pin when testing with a multimeter....??????
Any help from a guru here appreciated....
 
I don't understand what you mean when you say "The roof still won't go into reset" - what exactly are you doing, step by step, and did you attempt the initialization procedure laid out above?

I haven't ever seen the boot latch connections but I wouldn't expect more than one of the pins to have 12V on it.
 
Oops just deleted my post, only 3 wires on the hatch non of which are live black ground purple is pulsed feed(The unlock pulsed feed) white grey is (I think) the locked unlocked position signal) normally the white grey is grounded
 
I suspect the reason your hood isn’t resetting is because it doesn’t need to and it’s not the issue ( I have used the reset function after battery died the other year).

My Wife’s 500c boot fails to open every couple of years. The boot loom is fragile. Ideally a new boot loom is the solution, or you can replace the wires yourself.

We have a very good local Auto Electrician who is familiar with this issue, having done it on a number of 500’s.
 
Well definitely 12v into boot latch solenoid in chrome handle. Will go through wiring loom at weekend, anyone know where the roof Ecu control module is located ?
