Hi, Just joined the club, so bear with me if I made mistakes.

My lovely teal Fiat 500 Anniversario has lost a hub cap/wheel trim.
I've searched everywhere trying to buy a replacement.
They seem to be impossible to find.
Fiat parts dept quoted me £196!!!
I thought there must be a cheaper option.
I wonder what happens if another model is written off, where would the wheel trims end up.

Can anyone help me please?

Generally cars that have been written off will end up on ebay where they get broken down. Unfortunately you have a very limited hub cap and a quick check on ebay shows nothing for sale. It may well be that Fiat have got you in a corner :(

Thanks for replying
I think you may be right, but I keep my fingers crossed a little longer

If you can bare having 3 hub caps on the car, its always worth checking out ebay. Some people find them at the side of the road and sell them.

Good luck.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Replacement cosmetic parts for special edition models are often horrendously expensive. They are a cash cow for manufacturers, as the volumes aren't great enough for anyone to be interested in producing aftermarket alternatives.

Breakers also know this, so even if you do manage to find a used one, it likely won't be cheap.

Some people find them at the side of the road and sell them.

Unfortunately, many of the ones they find at the side of the road just happen to have a car attached to them at the time.

Remove your 3 good ones and but some tidy none original replacements would be my advice for anybody with these special edition ones there just took expensive to loose
Often as much as a whole alloy wheel

+1 Totally agree.......remove the 3 and sell them whilst you can get good money for them. 4 times the price nearly of the cost of the new alloy wheel I just bought original Fiat boxed and only paid £55 on ebay then as I read the hubcaps had the habit of coming off I bought a full set of 4 centre hubcaps for £15..........Whilst mine are the red outer ring I would think the chrome outer ring would look just as nice on your car

I like originality (well hubby does as he has several classics up to concours standard) but there does come a point where we are ridiculed by the cost of some parts. I know chrome on plastic has a high failure rate in manufacturing and there are several operations in producing these type of centre caps. Given they are so easy to take off it surprises me how many don't get pinched and come up for sale on eBay. We were always having the Lucas LR8 fog lampcovers pinched off the Lotus at shows or meets, and the chrome cigar lighters in the RR Shadow we would suddenly notice one missing. Not as bad though as in France where we lost the radiator flying angel twice.......and the Jaguar badges would be prised off the eType.

I remember back in the 80's you never saw a VW with the radiator badge as it was a cult thing to wear them so many just got pinched. VW started replacing them free. Maybe you can pursuade Fiat their hubcaps are being taken as wall trophies:rolleyes:

I concur Farrah. Take 'em off and put 'em away. My wife's 2013 500C Pop had the nice wheel trims of the early models - silver with the wide chrome ring and the centre cap and they were targets for thieves - even from our own driveway! I finally replaced them with aftermarket cheapies (we got through two sets over the years what with her grinding them into kerbs:eek:) and we refitted the mint originals when she sold the car.

True, the car didn't look so pretty but even those trims were too expensive to be constantly replacing...
