I managed to snap off the clutch fluid reservoir last weekend. The lid was screwed on tight and me being daft snapped the whole little bottle off from its mounting whilst trying to unscrew it.

No problem - should just be a replacement. Or so I thought. Took it in this morning to a Fiat dealer.

Dealer called back and explained that one cannot buy the bottle separately from the whole clutch servo assembly system and I was looking at £500.

Anyway, the guy at the dealer quietly suggested I try Ebay and I've found a spare for £24 so will just hopefully swap them around.

Fingers crossed.

The reservoir and clutch master cylinder can't be bought separately. Unfortunately, the part isn't cheap, although £500 is ridiculous.

If you can cobble something together using a secondhand part for £20-£30, do so.

Thanks both - I've ordered a spare reservoir bottle and will have a crack at swapping them around.

Anyone any ideas how to prevent an air bubble getting in when I swap the pipe over from the old bottle to the new?

Just bleed the clutch hydraulics after you've swapped it over. The fluid is best changed frequently anyhow; there isn't much of it and it seems to get contaminated rather quickly.

If you don't mind working by feel, it can be done with the battery in situ. Easiest with a vacuum bleeder.

Another reason not to go to a “dealer” ? I replaced my master cylinder a few weeks back ..went to bleed and couldn’t get cap off... my partner came over all matcho and proceeded to do exactly the same and snap it off!!!

I was not best pleased! So for now it’s cable tied & gorilla taped ... i looked at swapping my old one in to the new tube but it does not look like it’s meant to come off the rubber pipe!?

You need to warm the pipe up with boiling water and will slip on.
