Came across this by accident any thoughts? Apparently it can help to prevent rust

To a car, not having an undertray is the equivalent of going out with no knickers on .

The Romans summed this up in four words: "Semper ubi, sub ubi".

My old Renault 5 had one; it was as useful for keeping the driveway clean as it was useful for keeping the engine clean, as the corrugated depressions in it did a fine job of catching any tiny oil weeps. It was held on by four bolts and only took a couple of minutes to remove (you could do it without lifting the car, at a pinch). Sadly many franchised dealers couldn't be bothered to refit them after servicing and many were soon lost.

I still had mine, in good order, when I sold the car after 13 years & 220,000 miles.

Well I say! My car .. going out without her knickers on! ? I’ve actually just ordered a full cover (covers sump too) powder coated metal & comes with fixings
I’m actually quite excited to fit it! Has a diagram of under car showing where it screws into too ... bonus!

Linky?

Rasputin, the Younger Mrs S' Pop paid the price for running around with his danglings dangling. The sump was punctured by something and previous owner block thought that MIG welding it was going to sort it.. Ahhhh

New sump (and what a PITA that was.. exhaust manifold-off job) has fixed it and it looks pretty saucy under there.. but I'm keen to keep it clean.

Yup ... wasn’t keen on spending that much but I’m sure it will do it’s job!
And at least the sump will be covered!

I have plenty of time on my hands and fabrication of a guard for my daily driver will be my next project. My Coupe already has one. Both cars have alloy sumps which is very handy as well.:)
