Hello,

I have recently purchased a 1.2 2012 Fiat 500 and a light has come up on the dashboard that I can’t find anything about online or in the manual. It looks like a door with a line through the middle (Horizontally) with no other symbols on it, it appears a couple of places below the handbrake warning light in the right. Does anybody have any idea what this light may be for? Many thanks

best way to tell is to very gently pull back the rubber hose covering the loom from one end to the other, if you see broken wires you hit the jackpot!

then its up to you how you repair, though like some of us on here we bought an improved loom on ebay that is made with more flexible wire! and basically cut out the rot and replace
time consuming (took me a whole afternoon) but not difficult
or you could just soldier and sheaf the broken wires though it will prob go again!

Inside the rubber boot on the tailgate it could look as nasty as this!

I get that every time it's in the garage having tyres, service etc. They always hit the tailgate button on the remote and don't notice it's unlatched. The light usually flickers as I go over bumps ?

When BSM used 500s as school cars, pupils would often squeeze the remote as they started the car, causing the boot to pop.
They learnt quite quickly, as then they had to turn it off again, and go back and close the tailgate. I would not allow them to step out leaving the engine running.

I find that if I close the boot holding on to the chrome doodah of the bootlid, when the hatch hits the latch, that small shock is usually enough to make me squeeze the boot release button and so open the boot again. Ahhhh

I've learnt to hold the chrome doodah away from the release button.

I’ve not had my 500 long and this kept happening to me. It’s made me always use the material pull strap, on the inside of the boot when shutting it and I no longer have to jump out of the car at traffic lights to shut it.
