Hi gang my daughters 500s has lighting issue. With headlamps turned off drl are on but I thought this would just be side lights not dipped beam ?? Also when indicating right all lights go off doesn't happen when indicating left. With headlamps turned on this doesnt happen. Any advice please many thanks

Can you please clarify your issue,
With the headlights off, the DRL lights come on brightly? When you turn on the headlights the DRL dim, yes? this is normal operation.
When indicating right which lights go off, DRL L+R ? headlights off?

Hi mate yes with headlights off they are bright and when indicating right all headlamps go off. Also when indicating left headlamps flicker on and off ... hope this helps

As an additional check (not sure how it will help yet, but it's all information).. If you turn off the DRL in the menu, do the headlights turn off when the right indicator is flashing?

If the behavior is the same, it could be an earthing problem somewhere. If the lights stay on when the DRL are off, that could be more like a BCM problem. You don't want a BCM problem.

But if the lights dim in synchronization with the left hand indicator, as well as going out when the right hand indicator is flashing, that's more support for an earthing problem, since a BCM fault is more likely to affect both sides the same.

Hi again even with drl turned off on menu light stay on so looks like bcm ?

Changing the BCM is a bit of a pain in the 'arris, since it has the immobilizer information in the chips, so just fitting a new one will make the car not start. You would also need to transplant the chips. It may be possible to also repair your old one, depending on whether the person fixing it can find the problem.

Unless you are a soldering world champion/electronics engineer, this will need professional help. Before you pay someone to inspect/repair, it may be worth taking the car to a local auto-electrical place. They may find a bad earth or relay still, and fix it.... costing not much... and if it really, really is a BCM fault, they may know someone local who they recommend/is good at it.
