For a 500 you want ELM337 cable (engine)

And ideally the coloured leads (ABS,PAS.ROOF. CLIMATE..Etc)

Licence is €50
Elm cable is @£15

I dont understand what the Croc clips are for..?

Catching crocodiles ! Seriously, look at picture 6 on the listing and the ELM has a usb on the end. We also have various adaptors. And a lead with croc clips and what looks like a 3.5mm audio socket on the end.

OK I have asked the question various ways and got lots of advice on other threads but nothing articulate enough for me to just buy a 'complete kit'. I know one local main dealer is not at all experienced in advice on the cars software and would rather my geek colleague learn when given the right tools.


Is it that hard for anybody just to list me out exactly item by item and links so I buy the right thing:bang:. I understand there is a cost for a license to get the software but what are all the connections needed.


I have looked but really we are out of our comfort zone on buying the right items. OK if advised just for a 500 2010 model but if it is going to be of any use to other members I would prefer to get such latest best level that covers a wider range
