Apologies if this has been covered before. . . .

My completely standard 2008 Fiat 500 1.4 Lounge is suffering from the flashing odometer and battery drain. When I unplug the blue and me unit behind the near side rear trim, the battery drain reduces greatly so the blue and me unit is the problem.

My question is, is it possible to leave the blue and me unit off and stop the odometer from flashing by doing a proxi alignment with the mes software?

Thanks.

Not unless it is part of scheduled dealer servicing.

I will check the condition though now you mention it.

Un plugging it might be better, yes disabled but still connected?
You still need to unplug it but I think the Proxy alignment will show that it's been disconnected so won't update the body computer so you need to disable it first. It's in the same window as the proxi alignment. You can turn all sorts of things on and off, like the seatbelt beep, you then have to do a proxy alignment anyway but if it's causing a drain, you do still have to physically unplug it from the power.

If you find where it is in the menu of MES to remove the Blue and Me module so it doesn’t flash the mileage, post a screenshot please. I spent ages looking as the phone part didn’t bother me but the mileage flashing does.
I replaced the module in the end as I couldn’t find where an option was to remove it. Assumed it was a setting stored in the BCM .

Yes it is. It’s on the same page as the proxy alignment. It’s under the ”adjustments” tab I think. I’ll have a look tomorrow.

I could not find it at all! It only showed up after I had removed it

Now that it’s been disconnected I don’t know if it’s just me or that I fully charged my battery up yesterday but this morning the car felt like it had “more power” maybe it’s just me but I clearly noticed the difference!

Ok, so this morning I connected up my laptop with MES to my 500 and did a proxi alignment which sorted out the flashing odometer. However, I still have a 0.3amp draw on the battery with everything switched off and the vehicle locked up.

Going through the fuses, the removal of fuse F36 drops the draw down to 0.1amp.

Any ideas on where to look for the fault?

Ok, thanks go out to "Fix it again Tony" for his youtube video on disabling the blue & me unit.

I followed his instructions relating to an Alfa Romeo and then did a proxi alignment and POW! Problem sorted.

Ah I see, thanks to all so the 500 must set the blue and me to not installed in a similar way via the steering controls options. I’ll have to look. Guess it can’t be identical as I do remember the Aux input bit as being already disabled on mine

So sorry for bringing this up, but after weeks of searching, it seems the answer may be in sight! I have a Fiat 500s 1.2, 2014 with flashing odometer and ridiculous battery drain.
A proxy alignment did nothing.
If we unplug the blue and me unit (to be found behind side panel on passenger side rear, and seats need to come out to get to it) then let the computer know it’s been disabled on one of the tabs during a proxy alignment and then do a proxy alignment, I should a) stop the odometer flashing and more importantly b) stop the battery drain.
Is this right? Please ?

As long as you disconnect the power lead on the back of the unit and do a proxy alignment your mileage will stop flashing.

But . . . If you’re going to do that why not spend £60 on a second hand unit on eBay and swap it. Then it’ll be working.

And that’s a fairly easy job? I can’t find a you tube video for that in a Fiat anywhere..
Would I need to do any back up or downloading of data first?
Thanks for relying by the way ?

Also, they all seem to be around £110 on ebay. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

the price will vary on ebay a lot obviously a lot of diff independent sellers! check the model number on your failed unit first I believe this is important isn't it typecastboy ? what year is your car?...…

the job itself it fairly easy just fiddly ...so its...
back seats out...
pull up passenger side bottom door trim (remove screws and gently pull)

remove passenger seatbelt top mount bolt
remove plastic B pillar
after removing screws gently prise rear quarter panel out and very gently bend it back to access the failed B&M modual

its basically to the right of the rear speaker and is riveted in place
you will need to drill out the rivets first to remove the unit & re rivet the new unit in
obvs the re fitting is a reverse of removal just be careful and pay attention when re fitting the rear quarter panel ...the clips need to be re fitted perfectly as much as possible or you will end up with a ;rattle; as you drive! typecastboy im sure you had a video on your YouTube chanel?
