Evening All,

Back into the Fiat fold after an absence of a few years but maintained my membership as I knew we'd be back. Anyhow - Daughter has a 2014 500 Lounge and the USB stopped charging / allowing her to play her own music a week or so ago. I read a couple of threads on here and disconnected the battery for a re-set and all was good. Its failed again tonight and a battery re-set hasnt resolved the issue so before I start ripping things out - is this a known issue IE is it just the USB port that needs changing out or is there a whole computer hidden somewhere that deals with this? I have already replaced the aerial base as that circuit board had given up the ghost. Who knew simple car aerials would have circuit boards in them? So, any one have any ideas as to where I should start looking or should it go back to the dealership we got it from as it may well be under their warranty still.

Many thanks!

Hi,

We bought a secondhand 2010 500 and had a lot of problems getting items paired and working/recognised including the usb to recognise the iPod music through the USB.

The one thing reading up that we did was start by 'delete all users' in the menu. I have no idea how many users devices can be stored/paired in the system or if this was anything that resulted in getting all our own items working but you may as well get rid of all previous owners paired devices then reload again your own.

Thanks for the replies guys...

@ Farrah - the car is a pre-facelift model so doesn’t have the 8”screen so I don’t think it has the facility to list other users?

@typecast - nope, mileage is fine

The usb can be replaced as a stand-alone unit. They range from $25-$60, just make sure you buy the right one as there are 4 types.

You can't see the users that are already paired so it pays to just clear 'all users' on general principles and re-pair your own devices. It may or may not have any bearing on your issue however.

Apologies for the late response and thanks again to everyone who offered their advice. I basically did everthing you suggested except buying a new unit. Topped it all off by disconecting the battery and left it for a while. Connected everything back up and it works!!!

Now to sort out my wifes map update on the 500X we have picked up today.....

Cheers

Hi,

Good news, I should have mentioned the battery disconnect trick and leave, as this is what fixed all mine when I charged the start/stop battery wrong and fried it:cry::mad::yuck:.

Caused flashing mileage, cluster warnings and defunk Blue&Me USB.......still faulty even after fitting new battery but then left disconnected overnight connected back up in the morning and everything worked again fine.:)

I believe it is something to do with 'proxy alignment' but it definitely affects the function of the USB and power to the 68R dash insert if you have one.

Pico is correct though although you cannot see the 'users' paired they are still there and in the menu a facility to 'delete all users'.

All the best

Farrah
