Peeps - often discussed I know but is it true the auto climate control issue was resolved from 2012? My wife is looking to buy a 500c (13 -15 plate, 1.2) at some point and I've just been focusing on pop and colour therapy models as they are manual aircon. Obviously if the problem was fixed beyond 2012 it opens up more purchase options.

:)

As far as I know, no, not resolved, but willing to be told otherwise, would bet the heater box design hasn't been changed at all, the issue was/is the actuator servo could move further than the flap stressing the plastic connecting pin eventually snapping it off.

Thanks John for the quick response :). Ahh well no worries - I suppose there's no easier fixes been developed or is it still a nightmare job to sort? Anyway there's nothing wrong with the lower spec 500c models.

Theres a bloke from a garage down south that can do a repair for Around _£180 or something and has a way of doing the rapir without taking the whole car apart

Thanks AI D - I knew I'd seen somewhere about the issue being resolved after 2012! I suppose the proof of the pudding is if owners are still reporting the same problem in newer cars?

All the lounge models that I've seen so far on the 500c model all appear to have a CC. Was this not a standard fit for post 2013 models then?

The main change/facelift came in 2015. after this it seems less and less cars have climate control as standard. before 2015 almost all Abarth 500s had the climate control.

After 2015 many of them didn't and it became either an option or dependent on the spec

If you want a Lounge spec and can stretch to it, buy a post-facelift model like we did. My wife's 65 plate 500C Lounge has manual air conditioning, which was one of the facelift changes, as well as adding front foglights which were previously not a standard fit on the lounge.

If you live in the south of England, could be worth checking out the 500 specialist that supplied ours:
