Hi, 2010 500 1.4S

Ok read a few threads on the subject but basically battery went a bit flat and stop start warning light came up and stayed lit on the cluster with amber triangle.

Tried to charge battery but seems just gone a bit to far and not enough power to turn over engine. Got a new battery (correct type for stop/start).

Fitted today and stop/start works fine cluster lights all working fine radio works fine and car starts/drives and runs perfectly. BUT big BUT the mileage reading is continually flashing and I have totally lost the Blue&Me functions. Both the windows button and phone button on the steering wheel are not doing anything and just dead.

Any ideas please.

Your car needs a proxy alignment performed using a suitable connector cable and software.

Roughly where in UK are you ? A member with multiecuscan may be near by and willing to help.

The proxy alignment gets all the computers in your car talking to each other again

Hi all,

Thank you so much for once again super quick responses.

We are based in a village just south of Hull on the North Lincolnshire side of the Humber and a long way from any dealer garages.

So John yes have left the new battery disconnected now overnight and still the same.

Few questions.

1. What would a main dealer roughly charge for this and does it take a long time ie could it be done while I wait.

2. Is the equipment something a reasonably large muti marque garage would have.

3. Would someone itemise the exact parts (multiscan etc) that would be needed to buy and where from. Then is there a process itemised how to do it. My work partner is a techy and good with electronics etc just not spanners.

4. Where is the socket on the car that it has to be plugged into.
5. Anyone who is nearby that can come along and do it for me I will be happy to pay or if you know a mobile mechanic who can do it.

Due to current crisis it is likely a few of our cars won't get used for days/weeks and we can't put everyone on a battery charger conditioner so at times we do have to jump start. It seems if this maybe something that could happen again then I will buy the equipment and put my name on the list for others to borrow in our area if needed.

Most main dealers shut due to cv19 will charge far too much and make you wait ages
From getting access to car to finishing should take no longer than half hour, provided no other problems.

Yes or even some smaller garages, independents , mobile services

The snap on versus tool does it which many garages have.
Ring them and ask if they can do proxy alignment give them make and model of your car and ask how much it would cost , tell them you changed your battery and have no other problems.

This isnt wise atm. Flashing mileage/No Blue Me is better than death

Good point .
Unless you decide to buy and have delivered equipment to do it yourself .
I'm cleaning everything that is delivered to me or leaving it untouched for 3 days.
Use info provided when can do so safely.

Or 15 mins if you are talking somebody through it.. ;)

Or half hour if you have not done it before.
I think a dealer would like to make you wait for at least an hour to try and justify price they charge.

With my old 500 after I upgraded my speedo the dealer “Arnold Clark “ fleeced me of around £140 and kept me waiting 4 hours!!! All to do a proxy .... that takes me 1 minute!!!!!! After I was advised to get multiecuscan by the guys on here.

Do yourself a favour pay the €50 buy a set of cables (from the multiecuscan site only!!)

And learn like I did!!!! With the help of the guys on here of course!!

Then..... like me and everyone else on here just about... you have the kit to DIY or diagnose at least most things .. if anything it Stuns the chaps at the garage cause you know when they try fleece you [emoji23]

Hi,

Thank you all for this advice and I will certainly look to invest in the MES.

In the meantime 'Hacky' my work partner who I have mentioned before and got the TOMTOM2 Blue&Me working on the older car that the Fiat dealer said was not possible came up with an idea.

He removed terminals completely of the new battery both +/- from the battery and joined them together. He then placed the ignition key to the MAR/RUN/ON position and said leave it again overnight. I had already had an overnight battery disconnection but this had not resolved the loss of Blue&Me and the flashing mileage issue.

So this morning he reconnected the battery however forgot to turn the ignition key to OFF............I mention this as I have no idea if this is important or not but when he connected the battery the doors central locking shut the doors. Fortunately I got my spare non remote key and we managed to get into the car and switched ignition OFF then switched back on again and everything seems to have reset. TomTom turned on Blue&Me connected came up and mileage had stopped flashing. Steering whel buttons now too fully functional.

The car is all working fine just had to reset time and date and went through the menu settings. All paired items still worked and radio did not require any coding input as had been advised correctly it was held in the cars software.

Obviously I can offer no technical reasons why this should have worked but it has.........yippee no need for a dealer visit now but will though look into the MES equipment still.

Once again thanks for all the responses it gives a lot of comfort when things go wrong.

Awesome, now don't drive anywhere and meet anyone(-:

Don't ever ever reconnect a battery to a honda with the key in the ignition It messes up the imobiliser .

Essentially the car was totally flat, whilst disconnecting the battery should turn everything off, there maybe some residual power in the ecu's, leaving the key on makes sure everything has no power, then on 're connection all ecu's attempt to talk to each other this usually cures any simple talking issues (as you've found) good to see it's fixed

Hi,

Thanks John20+.

Jackwhoo just to clarify as Hacky is sulking saying I am ruining his reputation, he did switch the ignition OFF apparently before reconnecting battery....my misunderstanding how I wrote it up. He just did not remove the key from the ignition barrel on the steering so when the battery was reconnected the door locks operated and closed the doors. The reason I mentioned it was not everyone has two sets of keys so just warning in case anyone tries this as a fix.
