Anyone know if there is a particular way to open the spare key.

I’ve installed new locks and ignition and have swapped the chip in the remote key and need to do the same in the spare but I don’t want to break the key.

Anyone know how you get the spare apart?

The chip is moulded Into the key, programmed at the factory in the key, so the only way to get the chip out is to destroy the key

That's what I thought, to remove(maybe) clamp the key in a vice, use a sharp knife round the moulding seam and gently prize apart? Don't try holding the key in you hand.
How you'll incorporate it into another key is another matter?

I’ve got an old spare one apart. The rubber outer casing is moulded over a hard plastic interior.

There is a rubber plug which holds the chip in place. The key will pride out. If I can get an opening third party one I can break open my good keys and transfer blade and chip.

Photo attached of the components.

Update on this. I bought an open spare key with blank blade on eBay for a fiver.

I took out the blade from the key that came with the lock kit and the chip from the original key. The blade is held in on the new blank by two small screws. Undo those and it pulls out. Inserting the old cut key is tight and holds firmly. You can get one screw in. There is a slot to put the chip in and once snapped back together works perfectly.
