Removed this from behind my ignition, it is the key release when key wont come outta ignition.

Surprisingly it seems to have no effect on the car!

What is it called ?

Still need to adjust tranny, since replacing adjuster it doesn't quite line up in park.

It’s a solenoid it locks the key in when the car is in gear, the idea being that when you stop the car and get out you don’t leave your gearbox in drive, so that th me next time you start up, you don’t start in gear, as with an auto box the car can drive off especially if you’re on of those people who revs the car to start it, not a problem in a manual car as if you start it in gear in might jump forward but won’t drive off as the engine would stall if you tried to start it with a gear selected and a clutch up.

So basically your solenoid is only found in autos.
