Update......success..........what fun today was..... well at least as interesting as chasing down the online financial scammers as my normal day job is.

Well then, me and my trusty software geek (hacky).........you know the ones you see in the spooks or CSI series trust me they do exist. Well I now have my daughter's satnav all working. Whooooooahhh

It was something very simple, the USB for downloading update from the Blue&Me website had to be formatted prior to download @ FAT32.... my computer default formatted at a default of just FAT the other option being NFTS or something like that.

If all that makes sense then you are definitely a future friend of hacky.

AndyK you are right see.... I am not stupid:rolleyes: just not prepared to give up. Actually there are no tools in our house not even a screwdriver and the last time I had to change a fuse I used my nail file(y).

Had to sign an IOU though to 'hacky' for a dinner out as COVID 19 is interfering now.

Got the brake discs coming and some cheap seat covers on the way until I can get some of those nice one from Italy. Need to change the 500 vinyl flag stripe on the roof though as the red is badly faded but they are 118mm wide and those online for sale say they are 100mm so not happy being thinner in case paint work is 'un'faded.

Big question now is will the daughter be going back too university with all the shutdowns.............

With reference to the additional remote key fob......yes the dealer requests the key codes from the factory based on the chassis number which cost £25 the key comes programmed then at a cost of £326. and all this plus vat............think I will pass on that for now..........look after your key

Congrats to this - I don't think many people would have had the perserverance to see this through to success. (y)

As for the keys - there are dinosaurs around like myself who owned cars where every door had to be locked individually with a key. Same for the boot. Not the same key as ignition in many cases.
Unlock driver's door, lean over to pull the knob for the passenger door...
Manufacturers of more advanced cars proudly boasted single key lock systems that even included the fuel cap and glove box locks.

It's all a question of perspective - it worked fine then but we got spoilt over time:cool:

Ok, I even remember TVs without remote, but I'm definitely not missing those...

While we are dreaming - wouldn't it be nice to have the fuel cap cover being locked centrally and do away with the stupid fiddly lock in the cap?:D

And I'm looking forward to your report of changing the brake discs with a nail file
