New here but not to Fiat.
Got a very strange fault on my daughters 2010 Fiat 500 1.2
Switch off ignition and wait until the car completely shuts down, ie dash lights and interior courtesy lights go out . The exterior lights all come on. Sometimes flashing but most of the time permenantly on.
As soon as i open the door (either side) the lights go off. The relays in the BCU and not sticking on as when the ignition is on I can turn the lights on or off and flash HB -everthing works as it should
Its only when the car is switched off the the disco begins
Any ideas please !!!

Those symptoms will be a first, but check the tailgate wiring gromit/loom as it is a common fail on 500's and can cause all sorts of problems, do a search for more info including the fix.

Well, I’ve never heard that one before. Might be worth plugging into MES if anyone near you has it. Intrigued!

When it's doing it's thing, can you pop the boot open via the remote, open the lid and watch if there's any change.
When they do their flashing fit is it absolutely regular or erratic?
My bet is boot wiring.

I've just found a Punto thread on here with exactly the same issue

In answer to your question, opening the tailgate (with remote) or the doors shuts the lights off for 2-3 mins until the car ****s down again, you can hear the light relay click and the lights come back on.

Just to confirm with the car LOCKED lights on, simply popping the boot via the remote but not lifting the lid turns off the lights?

Got to be the hatch cabling then I would say.

I know this is a common thing but I’ve had 50 fiat 500s and never had the problem. Car 51 is coming tomorrow. I’ve probably spoken too soon.

No that was a question just trying to narrow it down, IE. if simply popping the boot but not moving the lid turns them off, it suggests the possibility of the BCM or signalling to it, being faulty rather than the hatch wires? though it could still be those and the action of opening over rides the light switch on function?

Car Locked, lights having come on by themselves, popping the tailgate or unlocking the car or opening the door switches the lights off for 2/3 minutes.

Check carefully that the wiring is fully intact, if its fine I'd be looking at the BCM, not saying its faulty it maybe getting a turn on signal some how?

Have you tried the classic disconnect the battery, have a coffee and try connecting?
