Ah another one, there has been about 3 other cases on here, car starts then dies, on second try usually fine afterwards the other posters have tried "allsorts" to no avail, you could consider 're mapping the ecu as this has cured the issue in other cars, not saying it's this but sounds very similar.

Hi :)

Is it ONLY when stone cold..

Does it stutter on a halfwarm restart?

Probably fuelling.. what temps is the ECU seeing cold vs warm?

(IS THIS car WITHIN THE 'WATCHDOG'era?)

cold morning start 6/7 hours watchdog era please enlighten me please ?

Hey. I’m having this issue with my Fiat 500S 1.4L. I haven’t seen a 1.2L having this issue before [emoji848]. It was really only reported for the 1.4L Fiat’s and Abarth’s to have this issue. Look up TSB 14-007-18 Rev B.

The car is in an ECU remapping place at the moment and they found that the fuel mapping is insufficient when the car is cold. They are incrementally adjusting the fuel map and the car is starting better than before (I hope to get it back sometime this week)

There is a seperate file/code (I don’t know) for a cold start. There are two tests that you can do to see if it is the fuel mapping on cold start:

1. Buy Liqui Moly Freeze Spray. Unscrew the MAP sensor with a T20 Torx Screw. Spray on the head of the MAP sensor and inside the hole, quickly place the sensor back (no need to screw back in) and turn the ignition. It should turn on 1st try.

A less reliable test:
2. Get a start spray and spray inside the air intake. It helps if you have another person who can turn the ignition straight after you spray. The car should turn on first try. Though, this doesn’t work all the time
