Hello, new to the forum...
I own a 2010 RHD 500c pop 1.2, that has just had wiring loom in boot replaced. It has developed a problem with the blowers.
They turn on fine and function however the air ONLY comes from the vents on the dashboard i.e. towards the driver. There is no issue with temperature. This means that I cannot clear the windscreen at all. I have changed the blower fuses and the pollen filter and no difference.
Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Hi. :)

Twisty knobs.. or automated climate system?

The automated units have a reputation for wearing out the flap control gear.. :(

Major job.. but there are specialists around who can repair for sensible money

1 thing to try.. that might work:

Turn the fan absolutely flat out.. this can sometimes drag a flap over to where you have requested..

This is very unlikely to be any way connected to your boot hatch wiring. Turn all the dials as far as they go one way. Prise off the heater panel. Make sure although loose now, that the dials are all as far to the same way and get a pair of pliers onto each spline on the white part that the panel connects to. Turn them all as far the same way.

It sounds like someone has taken the panel off and not positioned the knobs correctly when they’ve put it back.

Hello, thanks for your replies.
It is the automated climate control so no twisty knobs, just buttons.
I have tried to close all the other vents, and press the windscreen demist button on and off but no joy. Even switching the direction to feet does not stop the air from blowing full chat out of the other vents.
Thanks.

Trip to Winchester area for you then..

(Shame that it wont budge under airflow..)

SEARCH on here is pretty good..

This is a common problem.. some have made temporary repairs:

Maybe see if you can at least manually get it shifted to 'screen only' and wedge it there ;)

Hello and welcome to the forum

The blend door fault on climate equipped 500's is well known; a rather flimsy plastic part breaks off inside the heater box.

Fiat's official way of fixing this is to replace the heater box complete (the failed item isn't available separately). The downside to this is that it's a major dismantling job, and the heater box assembly isn't cheap, so you're looking at c. £1000 for parts, and about the same again for labour. If you fancy having a go yourself, there's a copy of Fiat's workshop manual in the downloads section of this forum to guide you on your way, but be aware you'll need to remove the front airbags, steering column, both doors and most of the interior forward of (and including) the seats.

There are workarounds and improvisations. This company has commercialised such a workaround and offers a fixed fee repair for £160. They're in the Winchester area, hence the reference in the previous post. Follow the link and scroll down the page for the details.

Note the blend door fault controls the temperature (no problem here )not the air direction, I wouldn't mind betting the servo is stuck or faulty that controls air movement or that it's control is faulty.
I guess AC was added as a option at purchase as I didn't think climate control was standard on pop's

Don't think climate control is standard on any version (well maybe some of the special editions)
Pop's don't normally even get air-conditioning let alone climate control
