And onto the next problem. 2012 1.2 lounge airbag ECU removed was the message in MES. Airbag lights up on dash as well as others.

Got second hand ECU, fitted. Car sees it but I’ve got three errors throwing up which won’t clear.

Passenger airbag exclusion light. If I try to switch the airbag on at the Speedo it stays off.

Incorrect configuration. No idea on this. Proxy alignment fails with out of range error.

Driver airbag resistance (second stage). I have seen this before and seems to be the clock spring/squib.

Mileage is still flashing as the proxy alignment won’t work.

I have noticed that the Speedo has got the feint light fault so that probably needs changing so I’m wondering whether this has anything to do with it?

Will be changing Speedo and clock spring next week.

Thoughts?

Nobody had any thoughts but this is still ongoing.

Changed speedo today, no effect. Changed clock spring, it then got rid of everything but the passenger airbag switch light error. Then drivers airbag (first stage) came up.

The incorrect configuration seems to have gone.

Nightmare. It’s beaten me, first time ever. I’m at a loss as to what’s causing it. The only thing I can think of is the passenger airbag has a fault or one of the plugs is faulty. Not sure whether you can change the passenger airbag from underneath the dash when taking out the shelf or whether the whole dash needs to come out.

The owner is taking it to Fiat to get them to do diagnostics so it will be interesting to see what they say.

typecastboy if the car had been your own and you were out of ideas, think this place nearest you'll find for an independent. https://www.ren7oaks.co.uk/

Bit too far to be honest. There is a garage I’ve used locally before when I was beaten. My mistake this wasn’t the first time. They had the car two weeks and worked on it on and off but eventually got to the bottom of my throttle fault. I use mobile mechanic and Mr Clutch for most things including mot. A lot of people slag off mr Clutch but they’ve been really good with me.

Guess they all come down to the local branch

Hell I was shocked when I go two tyres from kwickfit ( cheeper price by about £30) and they made no attempt to upsell anything

Letst take from begin.

Before the change Ecu u have that erors ?
Did u have a accident with this car ?

Than u remove the ecu with a used ecu?
If u have an accident and u solve the problem with airbag, u need to replace the airbag ecu , because have the crash data .

This is a previously repaired car and has been fine for two years or so. The four errors were there with original ECU and MES said ECU was disconnected so it’s obviously knackered. Plugged in new ECU, MES can see the new ECU but will not do a proxy alignment as it fails to write to it. Changed clock spring all went except for the passenger airbag one. Then drivers stage 1 came up too. Tried swapping back to old clock spring all errors back. Swapped back again, back to just the two.

There is no crash data.

Update on this. Owner has taken the car to the local fiat dealer (Ancaster in Catford, SE London). Although I haven’t seen their report yet they have told her, instrument cluster and drivers airbag need replacing and maybe more.

I’ve already changed both of those and it made no difference so as I suspected they really don’t have a clue when it comes to diagnostics.

Luckily they’ve offered her good money as a part exchange on a 2015 Pink 500c so I told her to bite their hand off.

So, if this car ends up at Copart for auction I might even buy it back. I don’t like to be beaten.

If anyone can sort, you can. But fear will be really obscure fix, so best write down and film exactly what did the trick. You may never know the cause either.
