Yes it was fine. I drove it around for a few minutes when I first got it. I only changed it due to the mileage.

I think he’s at that stage where he wants to make sure before he puts it all back together. He’ll be doing more for me so need to get it right. He’s coming back sometime this week to sort it, with a locking kit.

My trustee mobile mechanic came back today with the locking kit. All now timed perfectly and the cam error has gone away.

One question, I now have a very slight oil leak at the front of the rocker cover. The book doesn’t say replace the gasket and the bolts are tight. Do people who do this themselves replace the gasket as a matter of course?

You know far better than to do this, but as a warning to those who don't, never overtighten correctly torqued bolts to try to fix a leaking gasket - you'll distort one or both of the mating surfaces and make things worse.

Always replace a gasket what fitted.

You don't need to replace every gasket, only those which you don't want to leak ;).

In the same way as you don't need to brush all your teeth, only the ones you wish to keep.

[emoji51][emoji51][emoji51][emoji51] I like all my teeth. Point taken I’ll get a couple ordered. One for this and one for the next car.

Does anyone know what the torque settings are for the rocker cover?
