Re: 2013 Fiat 500s Crank/No Start

Iíve got some news from Fiat. When they installed the fuel pump, they didnít calibrate it as there was no instruction to (first time performing this task on Fiat 500). After the vehicle didnít start they reached out to the technical forum and they found out they had recalibrate the fuel pump. After the recalibration, the car turned on perfectly, but, Iíll have to wait till tomorrow morning.

Iíll update yíall sometime tomorrow

When you say recalibrate do you mean via diagnostics like a relearn of some sort?

Can see what sort of calibration a petrol fuel pump would need? They run fairly low pressure
High pressure pump on a direct injection engine maybe but fiat don't make any
And certainly a hp pump on a common rail diesel

I honestly have no clue. Thatís how the fiat mechanic worded it. They had forgotten to calibrate the fuel pump in the ecu. I figure the ecu needs to relearn as it has been running off a faulty fuel pump

Re: 2013 Fiat 500s Crank/No Start

Update: Got some news. The car started first try this morning. Hooray! But, they (Fiat) then turned the car on for a second time and it apparently was a little rough. They think itís because the car hasnít been driven at all for a while. They have supposedly driven the car around and got it ready for a cold start tomorrow morning.

Re: 2013 Fiat 500s Crank/No Start

Update: Iíve gotten the car back from the Fiat workshop. The car started perfectly this morning for the third day in a row and there was no rough idle this time.

Though, Iíll update tomorrow now that the car is with me. Hopefully the car behaves with me and turns on first try🤞🏻

Re: 2013 Fiat 500s Crank/No Start

Update: the car did not turn on all the parts are in working condition.

The next thing Iím going to look at is the cold start instruction in the ecu. I have been in contact with the Romanian guy on this forum who had the same problem

Iíll use his files and instructions and use his tests tomorrow

It was actually cooler at the dealership. I turned the car on one of the hotter days since 2 weeks, about 32C (itís been pouring down rain) The temperature at the dealership would have been about 25,26C

Carefully watch the 'selftest'
Of the dashboard..

And listen.. fuel pump whirring.. relays clicking

You might notice something behaving differently..

Give you something to investigate

Re: 2013 Fiat 500s Crank/No Start

Update: after doing the tests given by the Romanian guy on this forum who fixed the issue. I had to spray start spray into the air intake while someone else turned the ignition of the car. The car made the same funny cold start sounds but after a few more cranks, the car revved alive - and there was no rough idle. Hooray!

Iíve been given the files to flash the ecu with some corrected values.

Fiat did update the ecu but not for that particular issue, because apparently, TSB 14-007-18 REV b wasnít available for my car (even though it is within the VIN that needed the update) and it was only America.

As you can see in the video. Everything on the dash is fine. No fault codes found nothing. Just a funny crank no start issue. I always put the car in accessory mode and wait for the fuel pump before turning the ignition all the way.

Hopefully this ecu remap helps me 🤞🏻

I wonder why it only effects the "odd car" not lots?
