Hello,
I have recently purchased a Fiat 500 Sport, 2013. I am having some problems with the clutch, it makes a grinding noise when I lift it, the noise is louder when the car is cold and it doesn't always make the noise.
The second issue I am having is I don't need to put my clutch in to take my car out of gear, I am worried this isn't normal but I don't know anybody else with a fiat to test this with.
Any advice is more than welcome. Hope I can solve this without it costing a lot!
Thankyou in advance.
Emma :)

I'd say someone is going to have to have a look at your clutch and while theyre in there, whatever the problem turns out to be, it will make sense to replace it.

Also, just to check as I don't know anybody else with a fiat, can you take your car out of gear without putting your clutch in. I don't think that this is meant to happen as it could be a safety feature as anyone can take your car out of gear?
Just to add my car drives perfectly and it slides up and down the gears perfectly.

Any gearbox can be shifted "out of gear" under the right load condition, e.g. when you release the accelerator, in that small moment when the car coasts freely there is no load on the gearbox. Then you can shift out of gear easily. Under load, when you accelerate strongly, it should not be possible.
When the rpms and load conditions match, you can actually drive your car without clutch. So that one sounds normal.
The grinding noise doesn't.
