Hi everyone, wonder if you could help me - we’re in a bit of a pickle.

The orange engine warning light and the orange ! in a triangle light along with the stop start unavailable have come on. Before they came on the car had started to feel down on power, almost like it had no turbo, and was struggling to get up fairly minor inclines. Odd it actually felt a bit better to drive once the lights all come on.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, just before it was serviced, but the indie fiat garage couldn’t see any faults and there were no warning lights.

The car is a 2014 500 Twinair 85 with just over 70k on the clock.

The kicker is that we’re on holiday and have just driven 180 miles to the North Yorkshire coast - so lots of bigs hills to get over and that’s no fun with no power!

Does anyone know what the issue might be? Is there a simple fix? Or does anyone have a recommendation of where to take it in or near Whitby in the next week so we can get home?!

I’ve not idea if it even safe to drive? Will I damage the engine if I take it anywhere? Even if it is safe, if don’t really fancy trying over the hills in the moors.

They only saving grace is that at least we got here, and there are worse places to be stuck.

Had no joy in finding any one local so it’s a long trip back with the AA on Saturday ?

Im sure there's someone local that could at least read and clear codes see if it returns

No ones volunteered yet ? We’re booked in at motormech in Brum on Monday - hopefully they can get to the bottom it.

Sorry to hear about your woes and please update when you get the problem resolved. I regularly use MM for the coupe and the lads there will bound to get you back on the road .. :)

Holy thread revival! Completely forgot to update this - it was a stress full time as I had to get back for my grandfathers funeral, so I was rather more thrown by this that I think I would be normally and totally forgot to update the thread.

In case this happens to anyone else, Motormech diagnosed it as a hole in the turbo pipe - which is why it happen under pressure and was hard to diagnose on the side of the road. At least it was a cheap fix in the end.

The AA report was:

Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 1 - 5ND / IAW 8GSF CAN Status :p0236 - Turbocharger boost-press. sensor A. Error Message : Signal compare faulty. Error static.Removed and cleaned air flow sensor followed approx five miles all ok

The one bit I did enjoy was that the AA guy was looking at this forum to see if anyone else had the same issue :D

Hope that helps if someone that finds themselves in the same situation.
