Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

Hi,

The battery has been replaced with the correct type and the start/stop still doesn't work. It doesn't even say start/stop is unavailable on the display. Any ideas where to go next with this?

Thanks everyone! .

How long since it stopped working?

Is the sensor still connected to battery terminal?

Lucky you, Start/Stop bugs the crap out of me! However, if you're determined that you want it working, what make and model battery have you installed?

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

When you switch S/S off and then on again does it say "Stop&Start Connected"?

If the battery was completely disconnected during the changeover, it's been suggested on this forum before that the system will take time to "learn" the new battery's parameters before S/S will operate normally.

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

Not sure how it wasn't working for, was like it when bought from the garage. They fitted the correct type of battery but still not working. Covered under warranty so I want it working . I'm guessing just give it a few more days and see if it comes to life. It does say connected on the dash and I drive around 70 miles a day with a mix of types of driving

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

The manual does mention an 'initialization' period after fitting a new battery, but doesn't say how long it takes! I haven't experienced this, perhaps because when the battery on mine has been replaced it's always had an auxiliary battery plugged into the OBD port. I only know the SS has performed normally immediately after.

There is also a list of conditions that have to be met for SS operation (doors shut, seatbelt on, etc) but all pretty obvious - page 70 of the manual.

The engine should also re-start after a stall when you push the clutch pedal in. If you try that it will at least tell you the re-start part of the operation functions.

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

When our battery died with a dead cell I replaced it with new and the stop start worked immediately. I didn't do anything special, just removed the old battery and fitted the new.

Most people I know have disabled it!
It's a waste of time
wears the starter out
unreliable
forget about it

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

The switch for SS snapped off the pedal in our TA and never had it put back on. It will work fine without it. Ignore the message and it wont fail you on MOT.

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

There is no message saying it is unavailable. Just bought the car so I want it working and the garage have to sort it. Nothing showing on diagnostics either. Just want some kind of knowledge to go back to the dealer with. Would a faulty pedal switch give a code?

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

Saga continues.....
Garage had the car back for the second time and this time it worked! However only for 1 day and has not worked again since. They done some kind of procedure disconnecting the battery etc to get it going but seems to be only short term.

Going back to them for a 3rd time

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

Just heard back from the garage after being in for a 3rd time, and apparently they can't fault it and the start/stop works! It has not worked since the day after I got it back last time.

Is there anything I'm possibly doing wrong!??

Re: Start/Stop Not Working With Correct New Battery

Do you reverse when you park the car up?

Probably common knowledge but hey , in mine if I reverse then move forward onto my drive for example it will not stop the engine.
