Hi, My wife's year 2000 500 Sport needs some oil and the radiator needs topping up.
I'm ok with finding the right spec oil but I'm unsure about the coolant. The hand book says Paraflu is required and that it cannot be mixed with other fluids (apart from distilled water). Is this just Fiat trying to get me to buy Paraflu or can I use some antifreeze concentrate I already have (SuperColdmaster)? I don't know what antifreeze is already in it as it has long since stopped being taken to a Fiat main dealer for servicing.

The car's is 9 years old. The coolant is just below the minimum level. It's not a sudden drop, so I don't think anything is leaking. There's certainly no evidence of a leak. It's a while since it was serviced. It doesn't do a lot of miles since my wife finished work (it's only done 43k) so it generally gets serviced every 18 months. It's about to make a long journey and rather than a complete change of coolant I just want to top it up. But the radiator was replaced recently after an accident so I'm keeping an eye on it.
But since you mention it, I may just top it up with distilled water for the coming trip and then later drain it and put in pink antifreeze. Do you have details of what that is and where I can get it? It's years since I had to put antifreeze in our cars, so I'm a bit behind the times.
Thanks.

This one to top it up also available in concentrate, I use (the washer bottle level pipe from our Mazda) to check the level, its basically a straight clear plastic pipe, place into filler neck until (the cap in my case or a reference point) rests on the filler neck, place finger over end so you can pull it out and rest against the side of the bottle to see the true level with the liquid in the pipe as its almost impossible to see?

At 9 years old the cambelt will have been changed, and with it the water pump and coolant, so it won't still be on the original coolant anyway. Any OAT type is fine as above, and if they timing belt hasn't been done get it done ASAP along with the water pump.
