Can anybody guide me on a price for a engine repair I have blew my engine (I think) waiting on a mechanic to come out..

Not sure what has failed..

At 11 years in service could be almost anything.. but a failed head gasket neednt mean a write.off.

Engines are cheap if its major..oil failure..etc.

But the labour will add a few hundred pounds

You can pick up a low mileage complete engine for £300 ish on eBay.

First find out what's wrong and go/learn from there?
It's cheaper to replace the engine than fix if it's a serious issue.

Are you sure the motore is wrecked? A load of steam out the motor or out the back could be "just" a head gasket failed, so not too severe... still a few hundred quids though.

Oily black smoke and a stench of smokey bacon, oil all over the floor might be more terminal ... but a seconda-mano engine would be fairly easy to find (£300 it says up there ^ plus a few hours to fit).
