Twinair StopStart. (Only Twinair)

Hi,

In two years, my SS has failed in every possible way.

The battery, the clutch pedal, and last year the Oil Temperature Sensor.

This sensor was an expensive dealer only part, and by all accounts rarely fails.

However, it's throwing the same fault code again.

There's a slim chance that the new sensor has failed, or more likely another glitch somewhere. Or maybe a glitch is frying my sensors (probably not).

My garage has offered to read the fault, but I already know this, and they're neither Fiat specialists, not electricians.

So, I don't know what to do next.

Find a gifted diagnostician, go to a main dealers, or a fairly local independent Fiat specialist.

I doubt if anyone reading this has experienced the same unique Twinair problem, but if so, please let me know what the fix is.

Or any other ideas.

Cheers, Pete.

Stop start on the 500 is problematic - best solution is to turn it off and leave it off.

Re the sensor, could it be the wiring?

My twinair with SS has been suffering from power loss over past weeks and today I got 'SS not available' message and various CE/Triangle warnings - The last time I got this message the battery was shot - as I don't use SS when I replaced battery I just put in a normal same value unit a year ago rather than dedicated SS Battery with no issues to date - Could my current issues be related to the battery??

What is the code and how did you get it?

Most generic code readers will not read a manufacturer specific code, only general codes that are used by all manufacturers.

Specific codes can get jumbled up with generic readers and when one tries to look up the code, they usually end up chasing an untamed ornithoid without cause!

Re: Twinair StopStart. (Only Twinair)

It's a P0195 generic code for an Oil Temperature Sensor.
I picked it up on Torque the other day, but I used MES last year, and I'll check it again.
I think I'll let my garage try to diagnose it on Wednesday, and if they're stumped, I've found a Fiat diagnostic technician fairly close to me.
I don't want someone to swap everything out in the hope of fixing the problem.
Hopefully a diagnostic will get straight to the problem, and sort it out once and for all.
Cheers.

So dropped in a Varta SS battery but message/warning still showing and SS button not doing anything so guess Fiat is next stop - Don't feel bad about the battery as I guess Fiat would have insisted on replacing it before going further...

I'd find an independent Fiat garage if I was you, or an experienced diagnostic technician.

Luckily I've found an ex-Fiat diagnostic tech, so hopefully he'll trace my fault, at half the price (If my local garage can't identify it)

There's a YouTuber called Diagnose Dan who shows what an art form diagnosis can be.

Hi there, Iíve got a similar engine error code p0195, and my local garage couldnít find where the sensor is on a town air. So, Iím having to go to a fiat dealer, and over the phone, even theyíre not sure where it is 😕. Do you know how much it cost you to replace this sensor and where itís located?

Hi

Where are you based?

It sounds like you want a garage that deals with these regularly.. so wont just guess and and do unnecessary work

Struggling to find the exact location of this sensor sensor, no manuals out there, took the car to a fiat dealership who said to replace was going to cost £1500
