Hi guys ,
have been reading your brilliant advice on water coming into the drivers side of a 500, I have explored most of the possibilities you have all suggested, however I am still having problems, could some brilliant person please explain how I check for leaves in the heater air intake (pictures would be brilliant)
The water seem to be inbetween the double skin off the floor as it is seeping out of the seam of the metal. :bang: image.jpg
Thanks in advance

Hi.

The space under the windscreen wipers is a big metal box..

To save it becoming a waterbutt there are 2 rubber 'duckbill' drains.

Really a 500 question.. but FIAT use them widely.. here is a Panda thread

TBH. Normal course is through heater fan ducting..and onto carpet.

Are your carpets dry?

Maybe got a non.solid roof..??
Sunroof. Skydome glass roof??

Hi thanks for reply Charlie , I have cleaned the duck bills out already
And they where blocked solid, still getting water in , Carpets where absolutely soaking wet , have had to take them up and currently trying to dry them out.
Have a solid unopening sun roof, where would the drains be for the sunroof ?
Also could you explain where the heater fan ducting is as I haven’t checked that,
Thanks for your reply
Any input is appreciated

Get a strip of card ..and pass it down past the wiper area.. see if the scuttle area above the duckbills is still flooded.

The air travels from outside.. through the scuttle into the central dashboard.

Then the fan blows the air along plastic ducts to extremes of dash.

When I had a flooded footwell.. :(

I cut out the underlay..sound deadening matting... From under the carpet.

And hung it outside to drip.dry for a day.

Check the scuttles again..

We can check sunroof later.. ;)

Ok great, the area where the duck bills are is completely clear and when I put water down the window screen it drains out the duck bills no problem,
I currently have the matting hang out to dry,
When I put a water hose down the outside of the window to replicate rain the water still manages to get into the car, I can watch it coming out the seams in the Back as I have the carpet lifted completely away, also my boot has a couple of inches of water in it also, seems to be coming along from the front to the boot as well.
Hard to explain but will take a video to show you guys
Thanks for the help again

Ok ..right.

How old is the car.. how many miles?

Grande Puntos have an issue where the sealant between seams fails..

Resulting in wet boot :(

Im just trying figure out the 500 scenario.

Looking at parts diagrams may help..
