Hello to all on this great site. This is my first posting so bear with me, please.
I bought the daughter a 1.3 multijet 500, on a CAT D a couple of years ago.
According to Fiat, the reason behind the mileage reading flashing is down to the car being fitted with the wrong airbag ecu.
I have now sourced a second hand one but have read it will need to be matched up.
Is there anyone in the South Yorkshire area that could do this Proxy Alignment for a price, please.

Hi typecastboy
Fiat tried a Proxy Align to start with, but had no joy.
Further computer fault finding turned up this - Current ecu no 51918659.
Original number should have been 51782985 and this has now been replaced with 51867767. You tend to take what the dealers say as being correct, Mostly.

How much did Fiat charge for the proxi-alignment?
You can get an excellent progrm called Multiecuscan www.multiecuscan.net for 50 Euros (you can try it for free first even without the interface. If no interface or car just click simulate instead of connect) which with an interface and adaptor leads like this:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Fiat-Alfa-EL...apters-Diagnostics-Multiecuscan/282526378637? for £28

(others sellers available, I've used this one)
That will let you do a proxi-alignment and much more on Fiats. If you do your own servicing and repairs you won't regret the seventy odd pounds spent.
You will of course need a laptop but even an old one will do you just need USB and windows XP or later.

Hi g8rpi
Now I know what to purchase I may go ahead with that, unless someone has the gear, knows what to do, and at least that way they will get some money back towards there outlay.

That’s really weird. I’ve never come across this problem before

Im only telling you what Stoneacre at Rotherham said. May be they were trying to lift my leg and get me to pay £450 for a new ECU fitted and programmed.
I am more than open to suggestions.

This is the same conversation we had back in April. my specialist also told me that the replacement airbag ECU had to be the correct number? Hence I had my 985 module repaired.

I had airbag ecu issues back in April.

I too was advised by my friendly Fiat Alfa specialist that I had to find the correct part number to replace it. Mine too was a 985.

I couldn't find one so ended up having ours repaired (link is in that thread) but I guess you have to find one first?

Heres an update with airbag issue. So correct replacement ECU now fitted.
Purchased lead sett, and 50 Euro version of MES.
After much playing around, the red airbag light is still on, and mileage is still flashing. B0111-2F and B0112-2F error codes wont reset. These are passenger and driver, side air bag sensor fault?
Seems strange that both sensors have gone faulty. Have I missed something here folks. Where are these sensors fitted please.

Curtain airbags or seat airbags or possibly pre tensioners. MES will tell you which ones. If you do the proxy alignment is it failing to connect to a module?

That is what MES said, both side sensors.p

But not which ones? Have a look at the pretensioners. Can you see about 4 or 5 inches of braided cable coming out where the seat belt is connected? When these have fired it pulls that right in out of view. Check the cables to the seats. Is there any sign of a crumpled headlining above the doors?

It seems a bit of a coincidence that it’s both sides.

These codes weren’t up when the old ecu was in?

Take the little access panel off on the rear quarter where the seatbelt goes behind it. Shine a torch in and see if the seatbelt electrical connection on the top left of the reel is pushed on properly or at all.

Disconnect the Earth terminal before messing with any electrical connections.

I will give it a looking at when I get home, thanks.
When you say seat belt reel, you mean in the B pillar, not the rear seat belt mounting.

Yes the front seat belt reel. There’s a little access panel that is split in half where the seatbelt goes into the reel. Oncecthats off you can see the top of the reel where the electrical connection is.

Due to Holidays etc, only just got around to having a look at these side impact sensors. All connections are correctly in place. No headlining marks. The pretensioner cables seem to be ok, a good 4 or 5 inch on show.
Are these side impact sensors a case of normally open or closed.
