Brand new 2019 fiat 500 1.2 lounge with just 187 miles covered, from day one it has had a flat spot (hesitation) in first gear at around 5 miles per hour, after booking it in for test, we were told the car is fine, and the hesitation is telling you it is time to change to 2nd gear and when i told him i tested the twin air version and that was ok, i was told different car, no further action will be taken by fiat, just wondering if this is a one off or are others getting the same issue cheers Richard

The engines run very lean to meet emission standards, the flat spot/delay is quite normal and you will learn to drive around it in no time. The engine will free up after 5-6k miles and feel better as well as deliver much better MPG performance.

Jerkiness as above can also be attributed to the overly lean running of these engines, again to meet emission standards. It can be fixed with a tuning box if needed, around £80 iirc.

Our now old 59 plate has a "rough" spot at 1750 rpm or exactly 30 in 4th always been there whilst we've had it

Get some else to try diving it ?

Does the beast idle okay?

Around that RPMs the lambda heater turns off, which might momentarily confuse the ECU what to do. If you are an eccentic billionaire or the owner of an automotive electronic components factory you could try a new (use Fiat or NTK etc. that comes with the plug already attached, rather than bare wires that you need to splice into your existing connector) lambda sensor and see if that improves things.
