Heater Hose Fitting...Help please

Just had my coolant dumped onto the road while i was driving, from a broken plastic fitting on the engine side of the lower heater hose. I've done a bit of searching here and just want to confirm that it looks like its time for a new thermostat housing?

The car is a RHD 1.4 petrol, lower heater hose from the firewall on the passenger (left side when sitting in the car)

Had to pay a fortune for a tow (I was nearly 100km from home) and just did an oil, filter & coolant change last week (there goes all my fresh coolant.. ) so if I can at least know whats needed and source the parts before a tow to the mechanics to keep costs down a bit...

I've attached an ordinary pic from my phone in the dark, but I am holding up the hose, and you can see into the hole on the lower right. The pic has loaded on its side, needs to be rotated anti clockwise so my thumb is at the top and hole at the bottom

any help much appreciated!

Looks like the thermostat housing to me. I've seen a couple of similar threads recently, so clearly a weak point (why you'd want boiling hot liquid constantly running through brittle plastic is beyond me!).

IT is a known weak spot, the OEM and some aftermarket stats have a Plastic pipe connector which is subject to force as the engine twists and moves slightly under use, Try to Make sure the replacement thermostat has a Metal outlet spigot ( the silver one in picture below) to connect to the hose as this will not snap off in the future.

Re: Heater Hose Fitting...Help please

I remember something similar on my Alfasudīs cooling system back in the 80ies. Early series had metal outlets, later some bean counter decided that plastic is cheaper.
Nearly fried the engine, but luckily I could stop before. This kind of cheapskating is just plain stupid from the OEMs
