just had some fun and games on the MOT.
I had a fail as the number plate light wasn't working, I knew that as my car had been warning me of this - as an aside, it amuses me that my 500 will tell me if that's not working, will tell me if the daytime running lights are not working but won't say a single thing if the headlights are out, but that's another matter.

the garage replaced the light and duly passed the MOT.
however, I still have the warning and the light isn't functioning.
the garage tell me that it's a known issue with 500s and the whole piece at the rear needs replacing, it governs the boot light too. they can't supply it but if I get one they will fit it at no cost, which makes me feel they are being honest.
can anyone point me at the correct part online they are referring to? - does this tally with past experience?

Nonsense, I suspect what they've done is installed an LED bulb which has a lower resistance than a standard halogen bulb. The resistance is what the body computer uses to determine whether or not a bulb is out. If you install an halogen bulb it'll get rid of the warning, alternatively you can wire in a resistor.
Or, easier still, just ignore the warning :p

it does look like there's no light issuing forth from the bulb - and its a sure fail for next years mot?
