Hi all, new here and new to fiats!

My partner has a 2012 1.2 lounge which has just thrown up the common odometer flash/no blue and me fault. Just before this I gave it a service and cleaned the throttle body out as it was covered in gunk... now the engine hunts every few seconds on idle but drives absolutely spot on with no quibbles! Any help would be greatly appreciated... are the two connected or just coincidences?

Not sure if I should buy a used coil pack and see if that fixes anything or should I just go straight to fiat and get it plugged in? My standard obd reader won’t pick up anything at all.

Did you reconnect the breather pipe onto the airbox? It easily falls off if not pushed on properly.

Yep pretty sure I reconnected that - will check it later on hopefully if I get time though. In terms of diagnosing the odometer flashing issue, will the proxi alignment tell me there’s a fault (i.e. a faulty blue and me module?)

A check on each module/ecu will do. It may have just lost contact and a proxy alignment might do the trick. It’s a possibility that the blue and me is faulty but MES will tell you.

Ok thanks, I’ll see if I can get a proxy alignment done first and go from there...

I’ve seen a lot about MES and think it might be worth my while getting the equipment - do you need a blank laptop to install it on and also am I best getting a full package from someone like gendan or just get the individual leads and interface from eBay?

I bought a dedicated £80 dell laptop from eBay and a set of cheap leads. It worked but ended up buying a decent set of leads from one of the recommended U.K. sites on the MES website.

Not sure you need a dedicated laptop, I just keep mine in the garage so just a cheapo.

It’s definitely worth the small investment if you have a Fiat or other Italian car that it supports.

Well I’ve had it looked at by my local garage, they have a pretty good snap on diagnostic system and siren enough it has the proxi alignment programme... however it couldn’t carry it out as it’s saying it can’t connect to the convergence node? Anyone ever heard of that? From what I’ve found on other posts it seems to be the blue and me module?

Yeah that the name for the blue and me unit looks like it's failed if it saying it can't connect

You need to connect to the blue and me directly before doing a proxy alignment and see what errors there are. Sounds like it might need replacing. Easy enough job.

Ahhh thought it might be that module! Oh ok, sorry if this seems like a silly question but how do I connect to the blue and me directly? Do I need MES with the yellow connector?
