Good evening all. My wife has a 2009 500c that veers to the right. It’s quite extreme and letting go of the steering wheel allows the car to change lane almost immediately. This has been going on for a while but is getting worse. Have tried all of the below but nothing has made a difference.

Rebalanced all wheels
Tracking
New tyres
Swapped wheels from front to back
New lower arm bush
New front shocks and top mounts

Car went through it’s mot and there are no obvious causes. I’ve read that these models are prone to electric steering faults. The City mode went heavy about a year ago and we no longer use it. But now the usual steering is heavy and it’s pulling. This doesn’t seem to marry up with the symptoms that everyone with steering column issues is having. There are no warning lights.

Any ideas as to what the cause might be?

Many thanks

Just me but, can't help feeling there's hints to the issue with "city mode failure" and "normal pas getting worse" possibly steering column?
It's worth checking the brakes too, does it always pull the same way?

Yes it always pulls right. It’s horrible to drive atm. Have checked the brakes, they are fine. The pulling doesn’t appear to be affected by braking or acceleration.

Does it pull when moving but in neutral?

Good question this ^^. Also Does it pull more under acceleration / straighten up when backing off the throttle? how's the self centering when turning left or right?

Tracking is one thing. But has it had a full 4 wheel alignment?

I had my 500x done on a new geometry machine installed at the garage I use so they did it for free. All four wheels were virtually pointing sideways. Definitely worth getting checked.

Have you had the wheel off and physically looked at ball joints, control arm etc. I’ve just replaced rack, driveshaft, control arm, roll bar and subframe from accident damage but a bent arm could easily be causing it.
