Hi, hoping you guys can help!

My fiat 500 just came back from the garage after getting the driver seat belt replaced and I’ve just noticed that the orange and grey connectors at the bottom of the seat are not connected (see picture).

I’ve seen another thread saying this has something to do with the air bag - would this mean the air bag wouldn’t function if it needed to if these connectors weren’t connected? And is it easy enough just to slot the grey one back in? Any advice appreciated :)

Thanks,
Ros.

One is the seat airbag the other is the pressure sensor on the seat. You should have an error light up on the dash. Disconnect the earth terminal of the battery and then reconnect them.

I guess for some bizarre reason they have removed the seat when replacing the seatbelt which is completely unnecessary.

The grey one is the seat belt "alarm" connector, the driver's seat does not have a sensor mat.
You probably don't get an alarm now when the belt is not closed. I don't think it is necessary to disconnect the battery for this particular connector, the airbag is plugged in, so I don't think they removed the seat.
The dealer probably removed the grey plug when they changed the belt lock on the seat and did not plug the new one in afterwards (I assume a new cable comes with the lock).

Just plug it in and see if you get a belt alarm...

Oh yes, sorry, missed the fact it was the drivers seat. Passenger seat has 3, Airbag, pressure sensor, seat belt clasp. I don't believe selt belt clasps come with new seatbelts so they had no reason to change that, or maybe they were just having the owner over.

As you say, one is the seatbelt alarm (clasp) and the other the airbag. If both are undone, which I believe is what the OP said, then you do need to disconnect the earth if you're pluggingn them back in or you could cause a deployment or blow the ECU.

Thanks for all your replies, very helpful. There are no warning lights so hoping the air bag would still work, I’ll try driving without the seat belt plugged in later and see if there is an alarm or not.

Can I just check that if the orange plug wasn’t in there would be an alert on the dash to say the air bag would not fire if it needed to? It certainly looks like the orange one is plugged in.
