I attached the tailgate today. Bought some of the gloop suggested from Screwfix to ease the cables through and it worked a treat.
I put duck tape round all the plugs to protect them and tied 2 pieces of garden twine to the main loom and 2 each to the third brake light and rear squirter hose.
Greased it up with the gloop and they pulled through quite easily.
Only problem was getting the squirter nozzle back in. It was a sport new hatch with a spoiler and could I get it in? Took me over an hour, so fiddly.
All done now, adjusted for a neat fit.
