Hi,
My 2010 Fiat 500 Dualogic recently had a generic warning light come on every now and then whilst driving. I used my own diagnostic tool, and it came up with error code P0555, which having read online and on this forum, is a brake boost pressure sensor thing, and often is a case of checking the wiring is clean and circuit connected properly, rather than replacing the part.
However, the warning light came on as soon as I started my car up at the weekend, and gave me a message about my number plate light. I replaced it, and haven’t had the generic warning light since. My feeling is that the generic warning light was for the bulb, and is unrelated to code P0555.
My partner took it to the garage, and didn’t think to make a note of the code they diagnosed, but they have decided that the brake pedal switch needs replacing, and suggested replacing the pads and discs as these have sensors and that may be causing it. A quick google of this suggests that the switch is unrelated entirely to the problem I diagnosed with my own tool. I’m a little concerned that the garage may not be familiar with Fiats and that part, as Googling it suggests it isn’t a common car part, and that they’re going to be replacing the wrong thing. I rang the garage myself and they said they don’t keep records of what the codes are.
Does anybody know if code P0555 could possibly be related a brake pedal switch? Unless of course my own tool is wrong, which I am more than happy to assume, but the P0555 code seems particular to Fiats.
Thanks in advance for any help!
