Hi,

My 2010 Fiat 500 Dualogic recently had a generic warning light come on every now and then whilst driving. I used my own diagnostic tool, and it came up with error code P0555, which having read online and on this forum, is a brake boost pressure sensor thing, and often is a case of checking the wiring is clean and circuit connected properly, rather than replacing the part.
However, the warning light came on as soon as I started my car up at the weekend, and gave me a message about my number plate light. I replaced it, and haven’t had the generic warning light since. My feeling is that the generic warning light was for the bulb, and is unrelated to code P0555.

My partner took it to the garage, and didn’t think to make a note of the code they diagnosed, but they have decided that the brake pedal switch needs replacing, and suggested replacing the pads and discs as these have sensors and that may be causing it. A quick google of this suggests that the switch is unrelated entirely to the problem I diagnosed with my own tool. I’m a little concerned that the garage may not be familiar with Fiats and that part, as Googling it suggests it isn’t a common car part, and that they’re going to be replacing the wrong thing. I rang the garage myself and they said they don’t keep records of what the codes are.

Does anybody know if code P0555 could possibly be related a brake pedal switch? Unless of course my own tool is wrong, which I am more than happy to assume, but the P0555 code seems particular to Fiats.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Take a look at this topic as suggested above, the issue throws up all sorts of problems, does EVERYTHING work correctly on the tailgate?

I have heard of the brake pedal switch giving issue too

and you may not know of this way to hold the petrol cap correctly

The brake discs have NO SENSORS ;)

A quick LOOK ON HERE .. For the various Fiat code meanings. Found this in 2 minutes..

When you did the light repair..did it work ok..was it a blown bulb? Trying to rule out a hatch wiring issue ;)

Well, in a round about way the brake pedal operates the brake lights and there is a 3rd brake light in the tailgate! Which is supplied through the dreaded rubber boot failure point.

Hatch wiring is common and should be first check.

Brake light switch is important for control of the dualogic function, so a failure would also give dualogic issues. Easy to check, but hatch still most likely.

There are brake wear indicators listed for these, but many vehicles do not have them. Red herring.
