Hi all

I bought my 2012 1.2 Semi Auto Fiat 500 in 2017 with no issues until the last month. I have the following lights on my dash and a fuel cut off unavailable warning. I took it to a garage and they did a scan, but weren’t sure what to make of the report. Can anyone here decode this and advise on next steps? Googling suggests I need a new airbag ECU. The hatch wiring is perfect and so is the battery.

Thanks in advance

Hi. :)

Check to 500 section for posts about the instrument cluster failure. ;)

Thank you - I haven’t come across that particular issue in my search! I take it that the scan suggests this is the problem? Do you think I should replace it completely or could it be repaired? Funnily enough I have just found a thread where someone had the same issue as me because they left their car in an airport car park for a few weeks (which I did too. The lights came on the day I got back!)

Lydia came round this morning and we connected her car up to MES. MES wouldn’t connect to the airbag module but I tried a proxy alignment which worked. All airbag lights went out. Triangle has stayed on and stop start light is on meaning that stop start is inoperative.

Interestingly even after proxy alignment and clearing of intermittent body module codes, I still couldn’t connect to the airbag module in MES.

These problems started after her car had been sitting idle for a length of time. Put a battery tester on the original battery and it said it was fine but she’s going to get a new one and try it.

I can only assume that the module is faulty as it had lost connection and although now reconnected will not connect via MES.

Lydia came back today after having a second hand airbag ecu fitted. Needed proxy alignment but still had airbag faulty up but no airbag lights as I had cleared them before.

Tried proxy alignment which failed as it can’t connect to body computer. The airbag lights came back on too.

Further diagnostics are now bringing up faults with passenger airbag, seat and curtain bags.

I’m thinking that it’s the body module at fault now rather than the airbag one.

Thoughts?

I have an update but sadly no resolution. I’ve sold the car to a dealer and cut my losses! If they are able to find out the issue I’ve asked them to let me know and I’ll update the forum. Thanks all
