General Does it have an alarm and/or immobiliser?

We currently have a 500 Pop Star on a 16 plate and we take delivery of a 19 plate 500 plate Lounge on 1 March.

Do our cars have an alarm and/or immobiliser?

Asking as insurers seem to think we do when we put the car model in for a quote but I'm not so sure.

Tried the Fiat website and no indication there. Downloaded a brochure but that's out of date as it includes a Pop Star which is no longer available.

Thatcham website not much help either.

Any help appreciated.

Definitely has an immobiliser, every FIAT since about '92 has had one. Alarm is easy to test, lock the car and try opening it.

The pre facelift models certainly didn’t have an alarm. Whether it comes with one or even available as an option I don’t t know. I don’t believe it was ever an option. All 36 of my 500s have had no alarm.

Yes, I love that Pearlescent blue although the bodyshop gritted his teeth when i said “how much”?

I think that’s my favourite colour. I’ve had two of them and funnily enough one of the buyers has me looking for a black one for her daughter at the moment.

I also love the light blue but white are by far the most popular.

sorry to open up such an old thread!
I have fitted an alarm to my car: well partially anyway I know we have adequate immobilizer's I just like to tinker and well ...for me its extra piece of mind


I just need to hook up the central locking but im a bit stuck on the wire colours
does anyone know what colour the lock & unlock wires are? and if the locking is negative or positive locking?
ive googled..no joy....the Haynes shows diagrams but unless im missing it no indication of colours or what they do!

Gave up on the hawk alarm as the instructions were not clear .. I’ve managed to get myself the original fiat 500 alarm with precise instructions and I’ve already worked out how to fit I’m just prepping the wiring with heat & weatherproof tape

I noticed this alarm was available direct for over £200 but it’s no longer available

I know most of you don’t believe in alarms …. But I’m old ? and I do

Ok wired in the new alarm it’s a meta system it was very easy to install goes to body computer & obd and the siren is powered and earthed under the bonnet
But the only thing that works is the LED?
I have no idea if your supposed to “activate “ the alarm but there is something in MES under alarm/security but I need the 5 digit code
Went to my local fiat dealer and they had no clue they said to re code my keys at £170?? ? But that’s all they would do

I looked at mes in simulation mode and you seem to be able to change the alarm from off to uk but again code needed to get to that point!
What is it with these Italian cars!!

Lock the car, and try to open the door

Lock the car with the remote while inside and try moving around inside or opening the door from inside

This alarm system came with those sensors and a spare fob to arm
I had window down locked car with original remote waited for initial 25 sec exit time to pass (led blinks fast) then when led blinks slow shoved my arm in open window (alarm sounds)

Sit in car lock with original remote ..arm and wait for led to slow … then move (alarm)
I just armed alarm with spare fob waited 25 sec then opened door (alarm)
