Hi all, I have done a search in the guides but did not see anything.

I have a 2009 1.2 Lounge (with USB connector and bluetooth). Now the bluetooth has stopped working so I unpaired it to my iPhone and now do not use it. I also cannot get my iPhone (music or spotify) playing. So has any one changed the head-unit to something aftermarket that has built in bluetooth and also retains the steering controls. I would assume a double din would not work as there are 2 air vents just above.

Speakers are naff too and could do with replacing.

Any pictures etc would be fab... Thank you :)

That's pushing the boat out a bit too far IMO, you can pick up a decent headunit with USB, Bluetooth and AUX for £80, though they likely won't support the steering wheel controls. Spend a little more on the headunit (I'd estimate around £100) to get the steering controls option, but you'll then also need to invest in appropriate adaptor cables, last I checked these were circa £35 with the fascia adaptor.

Edit: As for speakers, they'll also come down to budget. Have a look around the website John linked above to get an idea of what you can afford and come back to us. I don't know the size of the 500's speakers off the top of my head, I'm sure you'll find that info on here somewhere though.

Thank you both for the reply..

Agree that unit way over budget haha.... but a £100 unit with a further £60 of cables and fascias should do the trick. I will do some internet searching now.

Cheers

Found this on flebay: CTKFT02 Car Stereo Black Double Din Fascia Stalk Fitting Kit For FIAT 500 07-15 https://ebay.us/OSotSu

What happens to the 2x airvents above the fiat stereo if I was to go for something like this?

Or a cheaper kit inc stereo like this: https://ebay.us/rQzSqi

Cheers

Looking at that kit, it looks like it re-routes the air-vents out the sides of the new fascia instead. Quite a clever kit, but expensive considering you'd still have to buy the double-DIN unit on top of that, and if you're going double-DIN you might as well get something with a screen, and they get expensive quickly!

The 2nd kit looks good though, has everything you need and should be pretty much plug 'n' play :) No Bluetooth, but with USB at least you'll still be able to hook up your phone and charge it at the same time, you'll need to get a DAB antenna if you want to use that.

Very good points.. thanks. I am liking that air vent to the side kit good.... Defo double din me thinks now haha

How about this: iat 500 Sony Bluetooth CD MP3 USB Car Stereo Ivory Fascia & Steering Wheel Kit https://ebay.us/yuH2Qe

Just placed the order for the second unit mentioned above.... Pretty happy with the price and will fit it myself ;)

I'm currently using the standard headunit with a connects2 CD adapter with allows audio in. I then use a Bluetooth audio device in front on that. It's basic but works well.
How much you spend depends on how long you want to keep the car really. If you get a decent Android headunit then you can move it to your next car as retaining it does not add any value to the car when it's time to sell.

Hi all,

I got the Sony WX-920BT and fitted it at the weekend, was a right ball ache to fit as he heater ducts need to be cut away and with the lack of space my fingers were cut to shreds :bang:but bar that the unit has transformed the car and bought it into the future.

Time alignment,,, if you've not experienced it, you don't know how good it is?

I think if you have to ask, you won't tell the difference (at least not against a blind/placebo control). The other issue is if your mids are in the doors, and tweeters in the pillars, you can only align one pair of drivers from a standard time align headunit. You'd need a dedicated multi channel processor for true time alignment. Even then, you're making it sound crap for any passengers:bang:

Time align is available on $100 units these days. Trying to get 'perfect' sound in a car is futile.

Time alignment straight over my head lol

Facia is pretty well made and seems durable, cannot say the same about the cage behind as the screw holes did not line up with the stereo (facepalm) !! But I made it fit lol
