Hi, I have a 2009 500 and the passenger door speaker sounded like it had blown. I've taken the door card off and drilled out the speaker rivets to find the speaker isn't blown but it is wet and the magnet on the back is rusty. There doesn't look to be excessive water inside the door and the drain holes are clear.

Had anyone else had this problem?

Window seals sometimes leak; condensation happens.

I'll bet there are more than a few speakers out there in a similar condition to yours.

Your car is almost ten years old; if you go searching, I'll wager you could find loads more rusting parts. Start by looking at the spring hangers on the rear beam, and be prepared for an unpleasant surprise. Then go look at the bottom of the sump.

I've really looked after it and the rear beam has already been treated and protected. Will look at the sump as my local garage normally do the oil changes and servicing for not a lot of money. So I've not seen the sump pan closely. Back to the speakers, I just don't want to replace them and find the same issue in a few months. I can see drops of water but nothing much. I'm wondering if the water is running down the speaker wire and ending up soaking the speaker. The water on the speaker is more than condensation. The mirror fitting is above, but it looks flush to the door. I've left the door card off and will get a hose pipe on it tomorrow.

If its a 09 it'll already have had at least 1 new sump I would bet, also look at the rear drums and all of the front suspension ours was terribly rusted.
Is there a rain guard above or on the rear of the speaker?

Nope, no rain guard. I think it's a small leak from around the mirror mounting, which finds it's way to the speaker cable up until it pokes through the white plastic insulation sheet. It then transfers on to the sheet and on to the speaker. Would rather fix it than ruin another speaker.
