On my 2014 Sport I’ve had for a few months I had a god awful smell in it. Discovered it’s had a leak and the wheel well in the boot was half full with water and there was mould growing under the water and the boot carpet and side carpet were wet one side. Absolutely minging!

I’ve tried everything to find out where it was coming from. Not through the year light screw holes, grommets behind the bumper, capillary action under the hatch rubber.i tried the lot.

Someone, I think on here, suggested putting a hose in the roof and clambering inside with the seats down and see where it came in, so that’s what I did today.

Straight away I could see water running from under the rear quarter panel just behind the parcel shelf pegs. I removed that and put the hose on again. It was coming from under the head lining.

Dropped the rear of the headlining and could see that it was coming in through the radio aerial. It was quite loose and the clamp seemed to have gone through the hole so the nut was just turning. Luckily I had a complete second hand one so I’ve swapped them over. This one has a proper rubber seal on it to, where the other one didn’t. I’ve put some seam sealant underneath too and now I’m praying it’s done it.

It’s taken me weeks to figure out but I’m surprised it hadn’t dropped through the head lining onto the seats. It had just run until it found somewhere to get out.

Well I washed it today starting off with the jet wash and all seems dry. Just drying off the boot carpet after cleaning some horrible furry stuff off.

Realised I haven’t connected the aerial properly though as my reception is pants. It was really difficult to separate the braiding from the centre core when I joined the cut cable.
