I have run into an interesting/concerning situation with my 2nd hand 2013 1.2L Dualogic trying to navigate up my steep driveway. The incline is steep, about 26 degree slope starting from a close to standing start (no run up) and easily accomplished with my other cars, but the Fiat has started to battle up and the clutch is smoking and burning when attempting it.

Given it's the Australian Dualogic, there's not much I can do apart from make sure it is in 1st gear and that is clearly not enough.

The car has done around 60k and there are no other issues with gear changes or hills while driving, although at this stage I'm getting a bit nervous to drive routes that have hills and stop-start traffic.

Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong or what may be wrong here?

Maybe get the clutch bite point recalibrated..

But there is a chance it is contaminated..

I take it if you accelerate HARD up a gentle incline there is no obvious slipping?

Oddly, I don't have any noticable clutch slipping on normal steep incline takeoffs, but they are not quite as steep as my driveway. I've tried the accelerating hard approach to get up the driveway, but even that just results in slipping and smoke.

Ok.

So..to me.. there are 2 x scenarios.

Clutch physically
damaged-worn out-contaminated : requires replacement

OR...

It is not fully engaged.. not 100% contact pressure (like keeping your foot lightly on the clutch pedal)

Nothing to lose getting the 'relearn' done. Blleding system.restting bite point. Etc.

Then ..if it still slips.. contemplate a change of the clutch friction components
